Westmeath Community Development Disability Working Group organised its 5th services and information day on Wednesday 17th October in the Mullingar Park Hotel. The day was a great success with 34 service providers in attendance and 191 member of the public attending. Gerard Killian presented the Olympic Torch to the crowd at 12.45pm which was very enlightening. The highlight of the event was listening to the 3 service users, Mark Ahern, Anthony Rafferty and Gillian McArdle who spoke about the issues and challenges they face on a daily basis. They shared their experiences and also spoke of the solutions they have found to overcome such challenges. Feedback from members of the public and service providers alike was extremely positive.. The event was Co-ordinated by Linda-Jo Quinn and funded by WCD under the Local and Community Development Programme . Sincere thanks also go to Mullingar Congress Centre and Department of Social Protection for their kind assistance.
