We often make an effort to be healthier during Lent. In light of this, the Easter period can be a great time to discuss eating habits and choices in the classroom.
Teachers can find some great tips on www.littlesteps.eu about healthy alternatives. Go to the “Swap Shop” which is under the Healthy Eating section of the website.
This concept of swapping could be discussed with pupils. Teachers could list a number of unhealthy options, and encourage pupils to think of two alternatives to each option – one which is a little healthier and one which is the healthiest. We can’t always choose the healthiest option, but it’s important that pupils know that there is a middle ground and that there is always something they can do to make a meal a little healthier.
