What is Tús?
The Tús community work placement scheme is a government initiative, administered by Westmeath Community Development, designed to assist the long-term unemployed by providing short-term meaningful jobs working within community, voluntary and not for profit organisations throughout Co. Westmeath.
What type of work placements are carried out on Tús?
A broad range of work measures are offered through Tús including environmental services, caring services, heritage & cultural services and retail services.
What are the qualifying conditions for Tús?
To qualify for a work placement through Tús an individual must:
- Have been continuously unemployed for at least 12 months and "signing on" on a full-time basis; and
- Have been receiving a jobseeker's payment (Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance) from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection for at least 12 months; and
- Be currently receiving Jobseeker's Allowance.
