40 More TÚS Placements Announced

40 more placements have been announced for the TÚS programme. This brings the total number of participants on TÚS to 140 for Co. Westmeath. This government initiative which has been in operation since the 2011 budget provides short term working opportunities for unemployed people. The type of projects that are eligible for this scheme include:

  • Energy conservation, work in homes and community buildings
  • Social care of all age groups and people with disabilities 
  • Caretaking, securing and supervising of community buildings and spaces
  • Renovation of community and sporting facilities and sporting spaces
  • Work in support of cultural and heritage activities
  • Repair of equipment for the Third World - for example, farm tools, bicycles, computers, sewing machines, health equipment

TÚS is an excellent opportunity for community groups around Westmeath who are looking for workers to carry out work in the categories outlined above. Any community groups or voluntary organisations around Westmeath could benefit greatly from participating in the TÚS programme these work placements provide good quality work opportunities that will be beneficial to the community and the participants.
