Bar and Restaurant Skills Course
Course aim: This course is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills work in a variety of roles in the hospitality industry
Who should apply: Anyone who is currently unemployed and on a DSP payment and interested in working in one of the above areas. Aimed at youth unemployed aged between 18 and 25 years.
There are 8 units of study:
Unit 1: Beverage Service FETAC 5
Unit 2: Licensed Trade Law FETAC 5
Unit 3: Restaurant Skills FETAC 5
Unit 4: Occupational First Aid FETAC 5
Unit 5: Manual Handling
Unit 6: HACCP FETAC 4
Unit 7: Employment skills
Unit 8: Work experience
Assessment of Learning:
The purpose of this course is to equip individuals with the knowledge, skill and competence to work effectively in the care industry. All participants will undertake the following Assessment Methods for the above modules:
• Written theory assignments
• Practical skills demonstrations

Westmeath Community Development is providing a free Job Club Programme for the unemployed in the Mullingar & Athlone areas.
The Job Club Programme will run for a duration of 4 weeks
Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm
This programme will be run in Mullingar & Athlone
And is due to commence on the
2nd of September 2013

Participants will receive an expense allowance of €20 per week

Credit Management Skills
Venue: Course delivered from WCD Training Rooms, Mullingar.
Duration& Time: Twelve weeks Monday to Friday from 9 to 4 pm
Start date Monday 9th September
Number of places on course 12
Eligibility criteria: Individuals (18 years +) who are unemployed and in receipt of a Department of Social Protection payment (FIS not eligible) and interested in securing work in the call centre, customer care sector.
Educational level: Leaving Certificate or equivalent and/or individuals with prior experience or learning in this area e.g. customer care, reception, telesales etc.A good knowledge and practical IT and communication skills required for this industry and entry to training course.
The purpose of this course is to equip individuals with the knowledge, skill and competence to work effectively in the contact centre environment as a support agent.
All participants will undertake the following Assessment Methods for the above modules:
Written theory assignments
Written examinations - theory
Practical skills demonstrations
Only individuals interested in working in this industry on a full time basis should apply, 100 % attendance on course is required, participants may qualify for a DSP top up training allowance.
