Traveller Cultural Awareness Workshop - 1st April 2025
SICAP Goal 1 had a great turn out for the Traveller Cultural Awareness workshop held in the Shamrock Lodge on Tuesday 1st April 2025. This was delivered by Caroline Nevin and Christine Joyce staff of Westmeath Traveller Project.
Topics Covered
The workshop covers information on Traveller Culture, beliefs and customs, discrimination, legislation and policies. Other topics are discussed and it gives an insight into issues which affect Traveller people. Evaluations of the workshop were extremely positive. We will keep running these workshops so members of our community can get a better understanding of Travellers and hopefully break down the many barriers and sadly racism that still exists.
Next Workshop - 15th April 2025
The next one is in Mullingar on Tuesday 15th April in the Annebrook hotel 9.30 - 1.00pm.
