Westmeath Traveller hosted the first of their Annual Pride Events for 2024 in Mullingar on the 25th of May 2024. There was a good attendance as usual with lots of people turning up to celebrate Traveller Pride with us.
All the team from Westmeath Traveller Project were on hand to ensure the day went without a hitch.

We had the Living History from Navan there on the day and they brought along their Wagon Tent and Tin Smith Tom Mc Donnell. We had Joe Reilly, a Traveller Musician, who came along to play traditional music and his music was enjoyed by all on the day.

We also had a display of old Traveller Photos depicting Traveller people from the past. For the children, we had two Mascotts to entertain them and great fun was had. We also had games and treats for the kids and some food and refreshments for all who attended.
This event was a great opportunity in particular for older Travellers to get together and reminisce on days gone by.

The Westmeath Examiner was there on the day and we would like to thank them for attending.
A big thanks also goes to Buckleys SuperValu Mullingar who donated the prize for our raffle which was held on the day and this was much appreciated. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Buckleys for their service with food ect which was provided on the day.

Thanks to all who attended to make the day the success that it was.
We have our second event for Annual Traveller Pride 2024 taking place in Athlone this Sat 1st June 2024 so come along and join us in celebrating Traveller Pride from 12 pm on the day. All are welcome!
